Waterford was established by Mark Reynier, former CEO of Bruichladdich, in 2015, with the concept of crafting a whisky centered around the raw ingredient: barley. Waterford's approach involves a heavy focus on various barley types cultivated in distinct regions of Ireland, each characterized by unique microclimates and growing conditions, all contributing to the intricate flavor profile of Waterford whisky.

Product Description

Waterford Distillery presents a brand new addition to their collection of single malt whiskies with the Waterford Cuvée: Argot. This delightful spirit is crafted from a combination of Waterford's Single Farm Origin whiskies, incorporating both peated and unpeated varieties. Utilizing a terroir-based method, each farm's Irish barley is harvested, distilled, and aged separately, resulting in a superb whisky that maximizes the natural flavour of the barley. The Waterford Cuvée: Argot is bottled at 47% abv.

The World's Most Modern Distillery

Waterford's distillery is much more high-tech than any other in the whisky industry. From the HydroMill to the Mash Filter, the process of making the whisky at Waterford means you can extract the maximum amount of flavour from the barley, capturing any effects of terroir.

The finest barley

Drawing inspiration from the world's most renowned winemakers, channeling their intellectual rigor and methodology into barley, the foundational element behind their malt whisky's intricate flavors.

72 Irish farms are growing barley for Waterford on 19 distinct soil types.

Irish whiskey without the "e"

Waterford distillery operates in a unique and unconventional manner, deviating from traditional practices in the Irish whiskey industry. They prioritize lesser-discussed aspects of production, particularly the type of barley and its growing conditions. Furthermore, they intentionally omit the "e" in whiskey, aligning with a departure from tradition and a commitment to not using e150 caramel coloring in their whisky.
