Ardbeg 2007 13 Year Old Fermutation Committee Release

Distilled at the Ardbeg distillery on Islay, this bottling was released for the Committee Members in February 2022. Following the breakdown of the distillery's boiler just before Christmas in 2007, it meant that the wash was not distilled after their normal 72 hour fermentation but was distilled after three weeks. Matured for over a decade in first and refill bourbon casks it has then been bottled at 49.4% abv.

Nose: Fresh, floral, herbal & tart. Hints of mixed herbs and cedar wood. Very zesty, vibrant, hints of smoked orange & grapefruit, lots of menthol & peppermint.
Palate: With water, powerful bursts of diesel oil, tar, fresh paint and aniseed. As this dies down, a memory of freshly cut hay, a touch of silage and the tiniest hint of something savoury, like yeast extract or bread dough.
Finish: Finally, a lingering, salty, firm aftertaste of mint, tar, oak tannin & leather.
