Glenallachie 10 Year Old Spanish Oak
Batch Three of The GlenAllachie Virgin Oak Series has been matured in American Oak Ex-Bourbon Barrels before giving it an additional 18 months of maturation in specially selected virgin oak casks.
The subtle flavour differences in this series are influenced by a variety of factors, such as the oak species, local terroir, and cask toasting, charring, and coopering. This results in superb texture, depth, and variety.
This mahogany malt gets its spicy, treacly flavours from hogsheads made of Spanish Oak sourced from the Cantabrian Mountains, air-dried for 18 months and then toasted and charred to a medium level. The secondary ageing in virgin casks deepened the mahogany hue and created a rich palate.
