Description

Kilchoman distillery has released a limited edition whisky for 2023, called the Cognac Cask Matured. This special edition is a blend of 32 Cognac casks sourced from Tonellerie Bossuet in France.

The heavily peated spirit used in this release has been fully matured in these casks for a minimum of six years. As a result of this process, the spirit has taken on the herbaceous, sweet spice flavours of the Cognac casks which perfectly balance with the citrus-fruit notes of the Kilchoman spirit. This also allows the delicate maritime peat smoke of Kilchoman to subtly shine through, creating a unique and flavourful whisky.

Nose: Sweet apple, pear, honey, warming spice, and delicate peat.
Palate: Buttery smooth texture with dried lemon, apricot and cinnamon. Hints of nutmeg with toasted oak and sweet peat smoke.
Finish: Dried fruits, marzipan, crystallised ginger with lingering peat smoke.
