Glenallachie 8 Year Old Scottish Oak

Batch Three of The GlenAllachie Virgin Oak Series begins with maturation in American Oak (Quercus Alba) Ex-Bourbon Barrels, followed by an additional 18 months in carefully chosen virgin oak casks.

The subtle flavour differences in this series result from a variety of influences, including oak species, local terroir, period of air drying, toasting, charring, and coopering. Each of these factors interacts uniquely with the GlenAllachie spirit, producing exceptional texture, depth, and variety.

This golden malt's indulgently sweet characteristics come from maturation in Sessile Oak (Quercus Petraea) casks, which are rare and costly and notoriously difficult to work with at every stage of production. The Scottish Oak used in this series is seldom used for whisky maturation and is air-dried for 36 months before being toasted and charred to a medium level, encouraging optimal interaction between the oak and spirit.
